Run for the Cure 2007

The wet Vancouver weather wasn't a factor as another huge crowd marked this year's CIBC Run for the Cure event at BC Place. Due to the constant rain many stayed under cover at BC Place until run time so the concourse was somewhat empty when compared to prior years.

Barbie slippers

This pair of Barbie slippers and highliters were stashed in this bin near the checkout. It would be so much easier for the store if the customers just handed these over to the cashier who has a basket for such items.

Tony's Lawn Maintenance

From appearance alone one would think the owner of this pickup operates a junk disposal or second hand good store. But the sign on the truck and the equipments it carries clearly identifies the owner is providing lawn maintenance services.

Tinseltown Cinama

This is one part of the International Village shopping complex that was able to attract a sizable number of people. With the opening of Famous Players' Downtown Cinaplex this, however, had changed for the worst.

More of T&T's sushi stand. This row of 4 Japanese dolls on top of the self-serve prepackaged sushi display case. Have no idea how good they are since I only buy and eat freshly made sushi.

Wiped tea?

Matcha!? Some new kind of tea? The name is pronounced the same in English and Chinese except the Chinese character "mat" is the same as the verb "wipe" as in wipe the table. Wonder what they had wiped this tea with or the tea leaves could be used as a cleanser?

Hound dog

I was walking towards the local Safeway when this basset's owner tied it to the post as he went in to buy a coffee. How do I know? After snapping this photo I went into Safeway and saw the owner at the Starbucks counter and showed him the photo.

Lights by the cart

These lights are supposed to be enclosed or seating in lava rocks. No idea how well they sell but obviously good enough for the vendor to keep renewing the monthly lease. There are interruptions but so far the vendor had alway returned after a short absent.

I shouldn't be surprised in seeing this VW van prowling the streets of Vancouver since spotted a Chrysler minivan, not as cool as this, earlier in the year. Some people in the Wet Coast is trying to relive the Summer of Love, perhaps?

Hand designs

The barista at the local Starbucks is kind enough to let me take this photograph of the tattoo on her hand. Notice in addition to the unique design and placement the ink used is the more pleasant flesh tone not the standard dark blue.

During winter when all the trees had shed its leaves didn't realized these trees were dead. Once Spring arrives their bared trunks and branches stand out in stark contrast to the surrounding trees.

Saw this futuristic looking coffeemaker while seating in the dentist`s waiting room. Went over to snap this photo and noticed the lid on the garbage bin, next photo, popped up. A little snooping around revealed it has a motion sensor. We know dentists make money but no idea it is so much that she can afford to fiddle it away like this. May be our tax law has something to do with it.

Messy people

Some people just have no respect for nor pride in themselves. A good example are the people who left this mess. More and more people seem to think they don`t have to clean up after themselves because they are in a public area which as a rule has a team of cleaners like the one in this picture's background.
